Saturday Slaylist 05/11/2016: Trivium

trivium-2016

Trivium circa 2016

Its been very busy in the Trivium camp as of late. Following the release of Silence In The Snow in 2015, the band have spent the better part of this year touring in support of said album as well as promoting the rerelease of their debut opus Ember To Inferno. Seeing as the band have chosen to revisit their back catalogue, I thought it would be appropriate to do the same for this week’s Saturday Slaylist.

For this Slaylist I’ve put particular emphasis on three albums from the Trivium vaults; 2005’s Ascendancy, 2008’s Shogun and 2011’s In Waves. These albums showcased the band’s potent mix of thrash intensity, metalcore melodies and progressive songwriting, and has resulted in some of the strongest songs in the band’s career. That’s not to say that the rest of their back catalogue isn’t good- there are plenty of awesome anthems to sink your teeth into. It’s just that these three albums proved to be another level completely- its hard to compare albums such as 2006’s The Crusade to its overwhelmingly powerful predecessor without feeling as though there’s a slight dip in quality.
