5 Things I Would Like To See On The New Emmure Album & 1 Thing I Don’t

Emmure circa 2016

If you have any sort of interest in metal, or more specifically deathcore/metalcore, you’ll be familiar with Emmure. Loved and reviled in equal measure, they’ve become whipping boys for modern metal and rather unfairly the butt of many a joke, in spite of the fact that their music can often be fairly enjoyable. With that in mind you’ll undoubtedly have heard about everyone in the band, sans vocalist Frankie Palmeri, leaving spontaneously and being replaced by most of Glass Cloud. Which brings us to the latest news: the release of a new single called “Torch”. Presumably this song will be featured on an as yet unannounced album, but I still have certain expectations and hopes for that album when it arrives. Continue reading

5 Things I Would Like To See On The New Metallica Album & 1 Thing I Don’t

Hardwired Single Artwork

Although I made a post a while ago that questioned whether we need a new Metallica album, and whether it would be beneficial to the band, I promptly had to eat my words when the band dropped the title track from their new album: Hardwired… To Self-Destruct. Despite being one of the shortest songs in the band’s career, it was the hard-hitting shot of thrashy-goodness that the metal community had been yearning for. So in anticipation for when their DOUBLE album (yes, you read that right) drops on November 18th, I’ve set about my list of things I can’t wait to see on the albums, as well as 1 thing I don’t. 5 Things I Want To See On The New Within The Ruins Album & 1 Thing I Don’t

Within The Ruins circa 2016

It’s no secret that Within The Ruins are currently hard at work in studio recording the follow-up to 2014’s excellent Phenomena album. They’ve regularly updated fans on their Facebook page, and are doing a great job of building up anticipation for their latest release– I know I’m certainly looking forward to it. With that being said, it’s given me an opportunity to think about what I would personally love to see from one of the most creative bands in the metalcore/deathcore scene. Continue reading

5 Things I Want To See On The New Whitechapel Album & 1 Thing I Don’t

Phil Bozeman of Whitechapel

So it’s nearly been a week since Whitechapel dropped the revelation that they will be releasing their sixth album, entitled Mark Of The Blade, on June 24th. Not only that, but they’ve also debuted the title track from the album- a stomping, groovy mid-tempo number that bears all the hallmarks of Whitechapel’s sound. Even the accompanying press release from their label, Metal Blade records, sounds promising and enticing for new fans: Continue reading

5 things I want to see on the new Skeletonwitch EP & 1 thing I don’t

Skeletonwitch 2016

Skeletonwitch are set to release their new four track EP, entitled The Apothic Gloom, this summer- a highly anticipated addition to their already solid back catalogue. Aside from the significance of this being a new release for the band, this new EP is notable for being the debut for the band’s new vocalist Adam Clemans, who replaced original vocalist Chance Garnette last year. Despite the band already releasing lead single Well of Despair, as well as playing new song Black Waters  on the Decibel Tour, I thought it would still be a great opportunity to give my thoughts on what I’d like to see from the new EP (and possibly the new album the band has hinted at)- along with what I don’t want. Continue reading
